Proximity, not position
Discovery answers only whether a fresh position is within 1 km of the selected place. No coordinates, bearings, pins or exact distances are sent to another user.

You can be useful without being findable.
Boyoung is built around a narrow boundary: confirm that someone is near a place, then let them choose whether to answer. The product never needs to know exactly where a person is standing, and other users never do.
“Nearby” is a confirmation, not a location.

Six rules
The experience is shaped by what it refuses to show.
A place is the anchor
Searches start from a named Seoul place. Boyoung does not publish a map of available people, and a respondent is never shown as being inside a building.
Fresh or absent
Positions older than five minutes do not qualify. Pausing deletes the current position and removes the account from discovery everywhere, including around its last known location.
Optional identity
Display names are generated pseudonyms. Age, gender and nationality are optional to provide and display; missing details are never inferred.
Private by construction
One question to several people creates separate conversations. Recipients cannot see one another or one another’s replies.
Pause is a real stop
Receiving questions off stops new discovery, new question notifications and location updates. Existing conversations remain available unless a separate decision changes that.
Still open
Honest about what is not finished.
Boyoung is a private alpha, not a finished public service. These items are still being decided and should not be read as shipped promises.
Reporting and blocking
Required before a public launch. They are not implemented in this alpha.
Retention of message content
Account deletion removes sessions, the stored position and the invitation; conversation tombstones remain because they reference another person.
Conversations while paused
Existing conversations stay usable in the alpha. Whether that remains true for a public release is undecided.
Search limits
Repeated searches around different places could narrow down a position. The limit has not been set.
Minimum age and verification
Not yet decided. Provider sign-in and the current terms gate are not age verification.
